Stephen Gregory is an American attorney, compliance specialist, and cryptocurrency executive serving as the Chief Executive Officer of Binance.US, the U.S. affiliate of the global cryptocurrency exchange Binance. He is widely recognized for his expertise in regulatory compliance, digital asset governance, and building legally compliant crypto infrastructure within the evolving U.S. regulatory environment.
Gregory studied political science and public policy at Franklin & Marshall College, where he also competed in NCAA Division I wrestling. He later earned a Juris Doctor (J.D.) from Hofstra University School of Law and a master’s degree focused on environmental and energy law from Vermont Law School, building a legal foundation that would later become central to his work in fintech and digital assets.
Before entering crypto, Gregory worked in government, public affairs, and legal practice. His early career included roles connected to the U.S. Senate and work with several law firms specializing in litigation, regulation, and compliance. He also worked with government agencies and policy-focused organizations, gaining experience navigating complex regulatory frameworks.
Gregory transitioned into the cryptocurrency industry through compliance and regulatory leadership roles at major digital asset platforms, including Gemini and CEX.IO, where he helped oversee anti-money-laundering (AML), know-your-customer (KYC), and licensing initiatives. He later became the U.S. CEO of Currency.com, leading the platform’s American operations and regulatory strategy during a period of expansion and acquisition activity.
In 2026, Gregory was appointed CEO of Binance.US during a pivotal period for the exchange and the broader American crypto market. His appointment reflected Binance.US’s strategic emphasis on regulatory credibility, institutional trust, and sustainable growth following years of legal and compliance challenges in the United States. Under his leadership, Binance.US has focused on rebuilding fiat services, expanding staking and “Earn” products, and developing access to tokenized assets and decentralized finance (DeFi) services for U.S. users.
Gregory is regarded as part of a new generation of crypto executives whose careers bridge traditional legal compliance and decentralized finance innovation. His leadership style emphasizes regulatory engagement, operational transparency, and the long-term integration of digital assets into mainstream financial systems.
