Career

Matěj Žák is a Czech technology leader and the Chief Executive Officer of Trezor, one of the world’s most respected hardware wallet makers focused on secure self-custody of cryptocurrencies. He has been instrumental in driving product innovation and broader adoption of secure crypto storage solutions.

Žák joined SatoshiLabs; the parent company of Trezor; in 2019 as a product manager and quickly became a key figure in shaping the company’s direction. He was later appointed Chief Product Officer, where he led development of the market-leading Trezor Suite software application that enables users to securely manage, buy, sell, and exchange crypto assets with an emphasis on usability, security, and privacy.

In 2023, Žák was named CEO of Trezor, succeeding co-founder Marek “Slush” Palatinus. In this role, he has focused on enhancing product usability, expanding Trezor’s hardware wallet lineup, and preparing the company to take full advantage of the next crypto market cycle while reinforcing its position as a leader in hardware-based self-custody.

Under his leadership, Trezor continues to champion self-custody as a cornerstone of crypto security, seeking to make secure ownership of digital assets accessible to everyday users and emphasizing user trust and simplicity in an increasingly complex industry.

Before Trezor, Žák co-founded startups including Flits.live and What The Hill, and he holds a Master’s degree in Global Entertainment & Music Business from Berklee College of Music; a background that reflects both creative and entrepreneurial instincts which he has brought into the tech and crypto space.
