NFT Marketplace Review · Updated August 2026

Objkt: Tezos's dominant marketplace, and the cleanest confirmed-incident record we've found in this series.

We're continuing our NFT Marketplaces series with Objkt, the largest NFT marketplace on Tezos, founded in 2021 and incorporated in Zug, Switzerland. Real, disclosed genuine strengths: no confirmed direct hack of Objkt's own smart contracts found in our research, compliance with Tezos's FA2 (TZIP-12) token standard and TZIP-16/21 metadata standards, and credible mainstream institutional partnerships, including a curated booth at Paris Photo 2024 and a Tezos Foundation collaboration with New York's Museum of the Moving Image. Real, disclosed genuine dominance within its own ecosystem: Objkt has accounted for roughly one-third to 40%-plus of all Tezos NFT activity by some measures. What we want to flag directly rather than paper over: we found a genuine, unresolved discrepancy in our own sources about Objkt's actual marketplace fee, one detailed source states 2.5% on successful transactions, another states 5% paid by the seller, and we couldn't resolve which is currently accurate. Real, disclosed historical context worth naming precisely: Objkt originated alongside, and later absorbed much of, Hic Et Nunc (HEN), an earlier Tezos platform that suffered its own separate, confirmed 2021 hack, a piece of the platform's lineage rather than a compromise of Objkt's own infrastructure. We weighted all of it below.

Our take, up front: Objkt is the largest NFT marketplace on the Tezos blockchain, founded in 2021 and incorporated in Zug, Switzerland, a jurisdiction also home to the Tezos Foundation itself. Real, disclosed genuine origin story worth naming precisely: Objkt began as a platform providing additional tools and UI for Hic Et Nunc (HEN), the earlier, foundational Tezos NFT marketplace, and later became independent, absorbing much of that ecosystem after HEN's own team dissolved. Real, disclosed genuine technical rigor: Objkt follows Tezos's FA2 (TZIP-12) multi-asset token standard, comparable to ERC-1155 on Ethereum-based chains, plus TZIP-16 and TZIP-21 metadata standards, and provides a public metadata-validator tool for developers. Real, disclosed genuine dominance within its own ecosystem: Objkt has accounted for roughly one-third of all Tezos NFT-centric activity historically, climbing to over 40% market share by Q1 2025 by some measures. Real, disclosed credible mainstream institutional partnerships: a curated booth at Paris Photo 2024 featuring artist Lorna Mills, and a Tezos Foundation collaboration with New York's Museum of the Moving Image letting museum visitors claim free NFT "fragments" of a projected digital artwork. Real, disclosed genuine positioning advantage: Tezos's proof-of-stake consensus is disclosed as low-cost and energy-efficient, a real, distinctive draw for environmentally-conscious creators and collectors relative to Ethereum-based competitors. What we don't think should be glossed over: we found a genuine, unresolved discrepancy across our own sources regarding Objkt's actual marketplace fee, one detailed source (dated February 2026) states platform fees are 2.5% on successful transactions, while another detailed source (dated May 2026) states a 5% marketplace fee paid by the seller; we could not resolve which is currently accurate, and we think that gap itself is worth disclosing rather than picking one figure arbitrarily. Real, disclosed historical context: Hic Et Nunc, the earlier platform Objkt grew out of and later absorbed, suffered its own separate, confirmed 2021 hack, a real piece of the platform's lineage distinct from a compromise of Objkt's own current infrastructure, no confirmed direct hack of which was found in our research. We weighted all of it below.

No confirmed direct hack of Objkt's own smart contracts found in our research, one of the cleaner confirmed-incident records in this series. Real, disclosed technical rigor: compliance with Tezos's FA2 (TZIP-12) token standard and TZIP-16/21 metadata standards, plus a public metadata-validator tool for developers. Real, disclosed credible Swiss corporate structure (Zug, incorporated since 2021). What tempers this: real, disclosed historical context, Objkt originated alongside and later absorbed much of Hic Et Nunc (HEN), an earlier Tezos platform that suffered its own separate, confirmed 2021 hack, a piece of the platform's lineage rather than a compromise of Objkt's own infrastructure.

Why this scores above the midpoint: a genuinely clean confirmed-incident record for Objkt's own infrastructure and real, disclosed technical-standards rigor, tempered only by a real, disclosed predecessor-platform hack in its historical lineage.

Pros

  • No confirmed direct hack of Objkt's own smart contracts
  • Compliance with disclosed FA2/TZIP standards; public metadata-validator tooling

Cons

  • Predecessor platform Hic Et Nunc suffered a separate, confirmed 2021 hack
  • Limited independent, detailed third-party security assessment found in our research

Real, disclosed genuinely dominant position within its own ecosystem: the largest NFT marketplace on Tezos, historically accounting for roughly one-third to over 40% of all Tezos NFT-centric activity. What tempers this: Tezos itself remains a substantially smaller overall NFT ecosystem than Ethereum or Solana, and one detailed source cites just $4.67M in 30-day volume and 17,300 users at one measured point, a real, disclosed, comparatively small absolute scale.

Why this scores below the midpoint: genuine, real dominance within a real but comparatively small overall ecosystem still translates to modest absolute liquidity relative to the category leaders in this series.

Pros

  • Largest NFT marketplace on Tezos; roughly 1/3 to 40%+ of all Tezos NFT activity

Cons

  • Comparatively small absolute scale relative to Ethereum- and Solana-based category leaders

Real, disclosed credible corporate structure: incorporated in Zug, Switzerland, since 2021. Real, disclosed credible institutional partnerships (Paris Photo 2024, a Tezos Foundation/Museum of the Moving Image collaboration, Miami Art Week 2024 programming) suggesting real, disclosed accountable, mainstream-facing operations. What tempers this: limited specific, disclosed detail on named individual founders or leadership found in our research.

Why this scores above the midpoint: a genuinely credible corporate and institutional presence, tempered by limited disclosed detail on named individual leadership specifically.

Pros

  • Credible Swiss corporate structure; real institutional art-world partnerships

Cons

  • Limited disclosed detail on named individual founders or leadership

Real, disclosed genuinely broad content-type support: images, audio, generative art, photography, music, and interactive multimedia pieces. Real, disclosed aggregation of NFTs from other Tezos-based platforms (Hic Et Nunc, Kalamint, Bazaar Market, Interpop, TZ Colors). What tempers this: real, disclosed single-chain (Tezos-only) scope, a real, disclosed narrower footprint than multi-chain competitors in this series.

Why this scores at the midpoint: genuinely broad content-type and in-ecosystem aggregation are tempered by a real, disclosed single-chain limitation.

Pros

  • Broad content-type support; aggregates other Tezos-based platforms

Cons

  • Tezos-only; no multi-chain support found in our research

Real, disclosed genuinely accessible design: standard Tezos wallet integration via the Beacon SDK, floor-price tracking, and cross-platform NFT aggregation within the Tezos ecosystem. Real, disclosed curator-focused features letting curators run their own galleries and earn fees.

Why this scores above the midpoint: a genuinely accessible, real interface with distinctive curator-facing tools few competitors in this series offer.

Pros

  • Standard Tezos wallet support (Beacon SDK); floor-price tracking
  • Curator-run galleries, a genuinely distinctive discovery feature

Cons

  • Tezos wallet setup is a real, disclosed extra step for users coming from Ethereum or Solana

Real, disclosed genuine fee discrepancy across our sources: one detailed source states 2.5% on successful transactions, another states 5% paid by the seller; we could not resolve this conflict definitively in our research. Real, disclosed creator royalty support, set per-token at mint and recognized by Objkt even when a token was originally minted on a different Tezos platform.

Why this scores at the midpoint: real, disclosed royalty support is undercut by a genuine, unresolved fee-figure discrepancy across our sources that we think matters directly for anyone budgeting a purchase or sale.

Pros

  • Recognizes creator royalties even across tokens minted on other Tezos platforms

Cons

  • Our sources genuinely disagree on the actual marketplace fee (2.5% vs. 5%)

Real, disclosed distinctive curator-gallery system and broad auction-mode support (English Auction, Price Drop Auction). Real, disclosed public metadata-validator tooling for developers building on the FA2 standard.

Pros

  • Curator galleries and multiple auction modes broaden discovery and sales options

Cons

  • Fewer advanced trader-oriented tools than aggregator-style competitors in this series
Where to get it

Access only through Objkt's official site, and confirm the current fee directly before listing or bidding.

Given the real, disclosed discrepancy we found between sources on Objkt's actual marketplace fee (2.5% vs. 5%), confirm the current rate directly on Objkt's own fee documentation before listing a piece or placing a bid, rather than relying on any single third-party guide.

0/ 100

One of the cleanest confirmed-incident records in this series, on a genuinely smaller stage.

We want to be direct that Objkt gave us less to worry about than almost anything else we've reviewed in this series so far. No confirmed hack of its own contracts. A credible Swiss corporate structure. Real institutional partnerships with the kind of mainstream art-world names, Paris Photo, a New York museum, that most crypto-native marketplaces never come close to. We think that's genuinely worth crediting on its own terms rather than treating "smaller and quieter" as automatically worse than "large and dramatic." What holds this score back isn't a scandal, it's scale and a gap in our own research: Tezos remains a much smaller NFT ecosystem than Ethereum or Solana, so even genuine dominance within it means comparatively modest absolute liquidity, and we couldn't resolve a real discrepancy between our sources on Objkt's actual current fee. We'd rather disclose that gap than paper over it with a number we can't verify. Objkt is a legitimately well-run, technically clean platform operating in a smaller pond. We think that's a fair, if less dramatic, story than most of the platforms in this series have given us.

The scorecard above is deliberately general. Whether Objkt is right for you depends heavily on which of these you already are.

Best fit

The Tezos-native creator or collector who wants a credible, institutionally-connected marketplace with a clean record

This is exactly where Objkt's genuinely strong confirmed-incident record and real art-world partnerships deliver value.

Good fit

The environmentally-conscious collector who specifically wants Tezos's low-cost, energy-efficient consensus model

This is a genuine, disclosed differentiator relative to Ethereum-based competitors in this series.

Workable fit

The user who confirms Objkt's current fee directly rather than relying on any single third-party guide

Given the real, disclosed discrepancy we found between sources, this specific check genuinely matters here.

Poor fit

Anyone who wants the deepest possible liquidity, or who needs multi-chain coverage beyond Tezos

OpenSea and Rarible, both reviewed earlier in this series, offer meaningfully broader chain coverage and deeper order books.

The scorecard covers the headline judgment calls. These four tables cover the specifics we didn't want to bury in prose; the fee discrepancy laid out precisely, Objkt's lineage from Hic Et Nunc, its institutional partnerships, and the FA2 standard explained.

The fee discrepancy, laid out precisely

SourceReported fee
NFT Plazas (Feb 2026)2.5% on successful transactions, plus ~0.0011 Tez to list
synopolis.com (May 2026)5% marketplace fee on successful sales, paid by the seller
Our assessmentUnresolved; we could not confirm which figure is currently accurate

Both sources are otherwise detailed and specific; we're disclosing the conflict directly rather than presenting either figure as settled, and recommend confirming the current rate on Objkt's own fee documentation before transacting.

Objkt's lineage from Hic Et Nunc

Detail
Hic Et Nunc (HEN)The earlier, foundational Tezos NFT platform; suffered its own separate, confirmed hack in 2021
Objkt's originBegan as a platform providing additional tools and UI on top of HEN
The transitionObjkt became independent and absorbed much of the ecosystem after HEN's own team dissolved
Current statusObjkt operates as its own company (Zug, Switzerland); no confirmed hack of Objkt's own infrastructure found

HEN's 2021 hack is a real part of the ecosystem's history, but it predates and is distinct from Objkt's own operations as an independent company.

Institutional partnerships, disclosed

EventWhat happened
Paris Photo 2024Objkt curated a booth featuring digital artist Lorna Mills
MoMI, mid-2024The Tezos Foundation partnered with New York's Museum of the Moving Image to let visitors claim free NFT "fragments" of a projected digital artwork
Miami Art Week 2024Tezos community groups and sponsors ran six days of programming across five venues

These are genuine, disclosed mainstream art-world engagements, a real point of differentiation from platforms in this series with a purely crypto-native audience.

The FA2 standard, explained

Detail
StandardFA2 (TZIP-12), Tezos's flexible multi-asset token standard
Ethereum equivalentMost similar to ERC-1155
MetadataFollows TZIP-16 and TZIP-21, with a public validator tool for developers
RoyaltiesSpecified per-token at mint; recognized by Objkt even across tokens minted on other Tezos platforms

This standardization is a genuine, disclosed technical strength, letting Objkt display and respect royalty settings consistently across NFTs originating from multiple Tezos-based platforms.

We don't just want to hand you our number; we want to show you how it sits next to what other review desks and comparison sites have published. We're flagging directly that we couldn't find a source that reconciles the fee discrepancy we identified, most either report one figure or the other without cross-checking.

The Block Note (us)N/A / 100
Industry averageN/A / 100

Our score lands closely aligned with the aggregated industry average; most sources we found independently credit the same clean security record and credible institutional partnerships we weighted, while also acknowledging the same real scale limitations.

No, though they're closely related. Objkt began as a platform providing additional tools and UI for Hic Et Nunc (HEN), the earlier, foundational Tezos NFT platform, then became an independent company and absorbed much of HEN's ecosystem after HEN's own team dissolved.

No confirmed direct hack of Objkt's own smart contracts was found in our research. Hic Et Nunc, the earlier platform Objkt grew out of, did suffer a separate, confirmed hack in 2021, but that predates and is distinct from Objkt's own current operations.

Our sources genuinely disagree: one detailed source states 2.5% on successful transactions, another states 5% paid by the seller. We could not resolve which is currently accurate, so confirm the current rate directly on Objkt's own fee documentation before transacting.

Tezos, using the FA2 (TZIP-12) token standard, a flexible multi-asset standard comparable to ERC-1155 on Ethereum-based chains.

Objkt dominates its own ecosystem, accounting for roughly one-third to over 40% of all Tezos NFT activity, but Tezos itself is a substantially smaller NFT ecosystem than Ethereum or Solana, so Objkt's absolute scale is modest next to category leaders like OpenSea or Blur.

Yes. Creators specify a royalty percentage per token at mint, paid on every sale, and Objkt recognizes these royalties even for tokens originally minted on other Tezos platforms.

Objkt was founded in 2021 and is incorporated in Zug, Switzerland. We found limited specific, disclosed detail on named individual founders in our research.

Objkt curated a booth at Paris Photo 2024 featuring artist Lorna Mills, and the Tezos Foundation partnered with New York's Museum of the Moving Image in mid-2024 for a public NFT claim experiment.
